A bust looks its best when it suits its place. Here are a few ideas on where each personality works particularly well – and what to keep in mind when setting it up.
In the living room and on the bookshelf
The classic: on the sideboard, in a display cabinet, on the mantelpiece or between books on a shelf. Almost all of our busts fit here. White busts stand out beautifully against dark shelves and wood, while black busts look modern and elegant against light walls. With a matching wall bracket, the bust itself becomes the centrepiece of the wall.
Habsburgs, emperors & kings
Sisi, Maria Theresa, Franz Joseph, Ludwig II or Queen Victoria add a refined, historical touch to entrance halls, libraries and reading corners. They are also eye-catchers in hotels, guesthouses and reception areas – especially for guests from all over the world who want to experience Austria. See emperors & kings
Music room and music school
Mozart, Johann Strauss father and son, Chopin or Herbert von Karajan belong on the piano, in the music room, the recording studio or the music school. A lovely gift for pianists, music teachers and anyone who loves classical music. See artists & musicians
Office, practice and law firm
Einstein, Tesla, Marie Curie or Sigmund Freud are a perfect fit for the study, the home office, medical and therapy practices, law firms or schools. Socrates, Plato, Homer and Marcus Aurelius add a classical, philosophical accent to libraries and workspaces. See science & philosophy
Atelier, studio and gallery
Michelangelo’s David, the male torso or Nefertiti make an impression in ateliers, design studios, architecture offices and galleries. Falco and Hedy Lamarr bring pop culture to the lounge, the bar or the home cinema.
What to keep in mind
- Stable surface: Place the bust on a level, sturdy surface where it cannot be knocked over.
- No heat: Do not place PLA busts on a sunny windowsill, in a conservatory, next to a radiator or in a car – PLA can deform from about 55–60 °C.
- Outdoors only when sheltered: For covered terraces or humid rooms, choose the PETG version. Read more in our article PLA or PETG?
- The right size: 20 cm fits nicely on a shelf or desk, 30–35 cm makes an impact free-standing on a sideboard, chest of drawers or pedestal.
